This is an original drawing that was created by rubbing the surface of a fragment of the former Maryland State Champion Tree, the Wye Oak. The wood was given to several artists in order for them to create artwork that used the wood in any way. I am honored to have this wooden piece of history in my studio, where I can continue to examine other possible avenues to create art with.

The tree itself was a 450 year old white oak that resided in Wye Mills, MD, on the Eastern Shore. It was blown down in 2002 by a summer storm.

The image I created here was inspired by the centuries-old dryad family members that may have inhabited this giant. Image size is 26" x 36", framed outside dimentions 36" x 47". Price: $2,200. *This piece will be on exhibit as part of several shows within Maryland, coordinated by the Department of Natural Resourses.
